Just finished building my Mk3

Hi all,

I have just finished my MK3 build and wanted to say it was a very simple and easy build. It went together very quickly and after the calibration was done, I was more than happy with my first print. See the photos below, I must apologise for the quality I don;t think I had macro mode enabled on the camera when I took them!

This is not my first printer build (I have built a RichRap 3DR from scratch and a MK2 kit) and I also have a three year old (non Prusa) I3 i bought ready made.

First impressions of the MK3 were how quiet it was, in fact when I ran the self test I thought it has reported the hot end fan working when it wasn't I ended up running it again and watching the fan! The filament loading with the sensor is cool! I haven;t tried the crash detection, filament out detection or power outage detection yet but will give them a go over the next couple of days. Love the spring steel bed!!

Overall I am impressed with both the build and the printer.

What was your build time and any gotchas or unexpected things pop up?

Thanks,

Hi,

It took me about eight hours. The only gotcha was I installed the x-axis upside down!

I did print an adapter for the X motor to allow better belt tensioning. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2740715

Other than that much more straight forward than the MK2 in my opinion.

May I ask which EINSY version did you receive? With the daughter board (version 1.0) or without (version 1.1)?

Thank you!

Glad someone else used this too.. I saw it and didn't really understand what it was for until i built my X axis.. But it makes perfect sence now and offers a few mm's of adjustment, so i installed it but havn't finished my build yet as I have been too busy.
