Horrible Print Quality Problems

Hey Guys,

I just got my Pruse I3 MK3 kit last week, and I have been testing it out throughout this entire week. Although the assembly was extremely fun, I was dissapointed after my first few prints, due to OK/partially bad quality. Not to sound snobby, but I was expecting better quality. Since everyone is raving about how good the MK2 and MK3 print, I am starting to think that I may have made a problem when assembling the printer. The problems with print quality are:

  • Print lines are CLEARLY visible/inconsistent, even when printing at low layer heights(0.1 mm) (picture #1)

  • Overhangs are really rough and messy(picture #2)
  • Note: All the prints I have done are either the prints provided on the SD card, or prints sliced on Slic3r Prusa Edition. I really enjoyed building this printer and I hope you guys can help it live up to my high expectations 🙂 Thank you

    Re: Horrible Print Quality Problems

I am already using the new Firmware 3.1.2.
I don have such problems with low layer hights, but overhangs locks similiar horribel. I tried an alternative fan-shrout to get better part-cooling, but also that didn't solve the problem.

Overhangs always curl upside while printing and produce messy "undersides" then. Does anybody have an Idea how to solve that?

    Greetings

Some models are quoted support free but they do really need them, as per the horrible surface finish. I normally let the slicer decide unless there in areas that don't matter.

Also printing at an angle or making sure you position over hangs facing towards the fan always helps.
