Autoload filament question

Just got my new Mk3, very excited! But I am confused about the autoload filament function. The filament sensor and autoload settings are on. So this is what I do:

1) preheat (PLA default setting 215 C)
2) once at temp, feed filament
3) extruder does start to feed filament, and melted PLA comes out the nozzle

But the printer does not seem to auto-stop feeding filament. I wait 10-15 sec and it continued to feed filament through and out the nozzle without stopping. Am I missing something? I do not see any LCD screen prompts telling me to hit a button once filament goes through.

Re: Autoload filament question

Does it eventually stop? It should feed like that to try and purge out any old color of filament.

I don't have my machine in front of me, but I know that it does feed for a good bit of time. No more than 30 seconds iirc.

Re: Autoload filament question

mine does eventually stop, after making sure the previous filament is purged...

it may run on a bit long, probably to address different filament insertion speeds, some of us are a bit doddery...
