Mk2 remote control and web cam with Arduino or Rasberry pi

I have 0 experience on using Arduino or Rasberry boards, so if someone could help me with my project.

So i basically would like to build webcam and remote shut down function (and possibly some other controls) for my printer, so i could turn off printer if print fails even if im not home. I would like to use camera and controls with android phone, so i need some kind of software?

I have been interested about Arduino and Rasberry boards, so i maybe could learn those at the same time.

If some of you have knowledge or you have made something similar, i would appreciate if you share your experiences.

have a look at "octopi", which is a linux based raspberry pi installation to control 3D printers with webcam option. you can even do some timelapse recordings .
but consider that the prusa i3 mk2 always do a reset when an usb connection has been established, which might as well happens after a timeout from the side of the raspberry pi.
this might be very bad if it happens during a print !

That looks quite handy. What else hardware i need with rasberry and can i connect it to wifi?

you could also give Astroprint a try, https://www.astroprint.com/ it's very similiar to octoprint, but it has a "cloud" webinterface, so you can connect to your astroprint raspi via the internet without doing any configuration on your router (this would be needed for octoprint). all trafic is encapsulated via HTTPS. Some features are only available when you're in the same network as your astroprint raspi for security reasons.

Livestream and timelapse is working wonderful, but since the last release they updated the streaming library, to get video livestream working, you currently have to use firefox, doesn't work in chrome atm.

Reason for astroprint, it's much simpler to install and has more features, except It doesn't have a g-code terminal for sending direct g-code commands to the printer, which is imho the only downside vs octoprint.

for hardware, you will need a raspberry pi2 oder pi3, somehow the internal wifi didn't work very well on the pi3, I switched to a usb wifi dongle, since then, no issues.

yes you can, if the USB cam is linux compatible, I use the raspi cam on one astroprint pi, and the logitech c270 on the other one.

This is not correct.
I does work in chrome!
I'm using Chrome at home and at work.
On my cell phone I prefer Firefox.
