Alu-Heatbed MK3
Hi Everyone,
I've been looking at the Alu-Heatbed MK3 as an upgrade to my printer, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience. For what I can see it can provide higher speeds as the adhesion with the aluminum might be a bit better and given that the glass is not required, the clips aren't either, thus giving a bit of a higher print area. On the other hand, I guess cleaning it might not be as trivial as cleaning the glass and we can't have multiple of them for consecutive prints.

Hi Anil
Ideally with aluminium, you would need Kapton tape/glue/juice or blue tape (this is what I use with a aluminium build plate).
Aluminium is a nice surface to print on, if you can get some sufficiently thin and flat. Otherwise, you will be looking to put glass on top...

Are you, by any chance, using an aluminum build plate with the i3?
I guess if the surface is not even and I need to go back to the build plate, I would've gained nothing from the "upgrade".

No, I am using the aluminium build plate with a clone. Glass on the "original".
If you have to use glass on top of aluminium, you lose out due to the additional mass (lower acceleration factor, slower prints).
Moving parts need to be as light as possible.
Best advice: Make do with the glass for now...
