TPU experiences: Adjust your extruder gears really well!

I just wanted to share my TPU experiences:

First, TPU made my life quite hard. After experimenting with print settings (and pulling HUGE amounts of spaghetti out of the extruder), I finally found some to somehow reliably print: Temperature 240°C, no retracts and 15mm/s maximum speed.

Since loading was still unreliable, I readjusted the extruder gears very carefully (REALLY carefully, it's about fractions of a millimetre). (I had a pre-assembled MK3, yet there was obviously still room for improvement ...)

And now, retracts (1mm) pose no problem at all, I'm printing now 30mm/s (I don't dare to get any higher, and I see no need for it) without a single failure.

I'd also assume, that at least some of the PLA problems regarding many retractions could also stem from misaligned extruder gears ... but, I could not know. I could only state, that PLA prints perfectly fine with me.

A final remark: I amazes me, how much of spaghetti-TPU fits into the extruder housing ... 🙄

Do you use the load filament function? I load mine by hand: Slacken the gear screws off and just push the filament in.
I use 15 mm/s max feed but a lower temp of 230C

With the load function, however filament sensor off, since my TPU is clear ...
