The first 2 layers seem to shrink a bit more than the rest

Hello,

I am using an i3 MKS delivered already prepared. I begin. Everything seems to work perfectly, the first layer adheres well (Prusa PLA) and looks well formed.

I have noticed that if I print an object, for example a small 10x10x10mm cube with 0.1mm wire, then the first 2 layers don't have exactly the same opacity and thickness than the other layers. While digging into the PrusaSlicer, I understood that it is because my first layer is always set to 0.2mm. Sounds normal.

Now if I print an object, say a small 10x10x10mm cube with 0.2mm wire, then the first 2 layers have the same opacity and thickness. But they are a bit wide... For example, the edge of the cube seems a little retracted. I wonder if it could be related to cooking on the bed heated at 60 ° for instance?

Thanks for your feedback 🙂

Check your elephants foot compensation value.  On prusa profiles its set by default to 0.2mm  This shrinks the 1st layer perimeters by the specified amount.  Its in there to combat the 'squish' you need to get a good first layer adhesion.  It only applies to the 1st layer though so I don't know about your second layer.
Depending on just how much squish you have from your live z settings on the printer 0.2 is often too much.  Personally mine is set to 0.1.

Not at slicer at the moment but I think its and advanced/expert setting so you need to be out of basic mode to see it.  Its under Print Settings though.

Thank you!

At first I thought it was a joke but, indeed, there is this parameter which is at 0.2 😀  I will test at 0.1!
