Square-Support not printed clean

Hello everybody,

I still have issue with printing support. If I use straight lines, it doesn‘t keep at place because of warping. With Square as pattern for structure the warping issue is gone. But I still have issue because the square are not clean.

It’s ABS (ABSPro Flame Retartand from Formfuture) and I printed with 250 degree celsius as nozzle temp and ambient temperature is stable at 41 degree celsius and bed is fixed at 110 degree Celsius (is responsible for heating the camber too).

Please look the pattern in the center (and because of this issue there is a hole on left side). Is it because the nozzle temperature is too high? Or what is the reason?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards
Floh

Questions:

1. Are you using an enclosure?

2. (I can't really tell from the photo, but ...) Are you having any trouble with the print or supports sticking to the print bed?

If the answer to 1 above is no, I would suggest trying the 'draft shield' option, as this gives you a 'mini enclosure' around your print to keep the temperature somewhat stable.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Of course I‘m using enclosure and because of that I got ambient temperature 41-42 degree Celsius.

I try to describe the image:

What you see is almost only support. The object itself is upsidedown U-shaped form (if you looks from top).

The object itself is perfect, and I don‘t have any bed adhesion issue (its perfect!).

The only issue is support itself which is square-shaped and you can see, its very poor. I also tried with different temperature like 240 and 260, but no good. I think its a overhang issue since the square pattern works as following: every even layers a horizontal line are printed, and every odd layer vertical lines are printed, so basically its only overhang and it doesn‘t work well with ABS (with disabled ventilator).

I gave up using square pattern for support and changed to hexagon, which works perfect.

Which pattern are you using for support if you print ABS?

Best regards
