Prusament sicks at the very end of the spool = jam

Hallo,

I had  the following problem already two times:

The very end of the prusament seams to stick at the spool. I think that ist the reason why the very end of the spool ist a little bit thicker. This thicker end ist not able to go through the ptfe-tube. So there is a constipation and the beginning of the ptfe. The mmu and the extruder - filament sensor are not able to detect that the filament runs out and you get an air print.

So in this case you can not count on it that the mmu2 will continue with the next spool if the first one runs out.
Does anyone have the same Problem with Prusament? ( I never had this problem with oder filament)

Any Ideas to solve that Problem (Prusa told me the every spool is checked - perfect but useless if the end is too thick!)

Thank you!

Hallo,
no the problem is a little bit clearer - please look at the added picture.

The Problem ist not the thickness. It is obviously the way the end of the filament ist connected to the spool. In my case prusament galaxy black

Does nobody have that problem??

Lots of manufacturers lock the start of the filament to the spool before winding it, and yes it can cause a jam and try to pull the spool off. When you first open the reel look for the little stub sticking out inside the middle and trim it with a pair of snips. That way when it gets to the end it comes free easily..

Hallo,
yes trimming the very end seems to be the best way to solve that problem but in case of Prusament that ist not possible because the inner spool is made of carton and it is fully closed. So there is no possibilty to see the very end. I am sad, the whole spool of prusament ist perfect but due to the very end I cannot use it anymore in MMU.

I just tested spools from other manufacturers and there is the possibility to trim the end. I´m sad, but in this case prusament ist no option if you use spooljoin.

Revisiting an old thread, but I also have this issue. It's very annoying because everything else is very nice with the Prusaments...
