Printing Extrudr PETG comes off.

Hi,

I'm new to the 3d printing game.

Yesterday I printed successfully the parts for the prusa lack case (bottom parts, covering the whole sheet) with Prusament orange on the satin sheet after lowering the z calibration.

Today I wanted to print a part for the brio train tracks. My son wanted blue, so I unpacked my Extrudr cyan petg and started printing.

After the first 3 layers of so, the edge started to peel off.

You can see that in the picture top right.

I'm currently training to print again. I have adjusted the z calibration even a bit lower and increased the bed temperature to 80 degrees. (profile says 70).

Is there anything else what is helpful in such situations. Or is the Extrudr petg not as good as expected?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it has anything to do with the filament. On a large object like this with rectangular corners, I wouldn't be surprised by some warping.

Assuming Live Z is well calibrated and the steel sheet is clean (using hot water and fragrant-free dish washing soap), here are a few approaches that have worked for me:

* Slow down print speed.

* Add mickey mouse ears to the corners. You can add a cylindrical part in PrusaSlicer, maybe 10mm diameter, change height to single layer height, then place the part at the corner. Repeat for each corner.

* Add a brim around the model, 5 mm or more.

* Use Layerneer Bed Weld ( https://www.amazon.com/Printer-Adhesive-Layerneer-Original-Filament/dp/B079984GV5/). You need only a thin layer.

* If you have design control over your part and it's possible considering the intended use, you can try to round the edges and/or add holes to the base of the model.

* Combination of above. Usually, brim/ears does the job, or some Layerneer if needed, but large, rectangular objects can be a challenge.

Entiendo que tiene restos de petg, sube la temperatura del nozle a 280 celsius y extruye hasta que salga lo que está provocando el atasco, suerte

Hi,

follow-up from me:

Your assumption was wrong, my Live-Z was not well calibrated. I did a complete recalibration, set the Live-Z-Value even lower, switched to 7x7 test points and used Prusament PETG settings...

Now it works 🙂

I can't get Layerneer Bed Weld in Germany, is there another brand for that here?

Thank you!

You could try any of the adhesives available from 3dJake.  I think they are in Germany and can ship locally to you.

Hi,

I like to step into this discussion. I always printed with Prusament and bough XPETG from Extrudr because of the nice, matt Colors.

Now I have a large print and no success with adhesion. After 2 or 3 layers some edges peel off the plate. I cleaned the coated steel plate with soap and alcohol - still have issues.

Now switched to Prusament PETG  -> EVRYTHING WORKS JUST FINE!!

I will put the filament back into the drybox, maybe it became wet. Maybe I have to slow down the first layers
