print of flex filament on MK3S

hello,

I would like to share you my experience of flex printing of Black 95A Polyflex.

I'm currently in realization of the Open RC Truggy of Daniel Norée (I thank him it's really good design).

Now, I would like to print the tires with this filament.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:240970

I began my first printings on MK3 without success when the upgrade of the MK3S is out.

After the implementation of MK3S, I was finally able to print 2 tires in one time.

For these 2 tires, I used the configuration based on Prusa slicer profile named semiflex of flexfill 98A which I modified the followinf parameter :
extrusion temperature : 230 °C
Extrusion multiplier : 1.2
disable the retractation (thing I didn't when I was in MK3 configuration).
infill Pattern : Gyroid at 15 %
All the parameter of speed are configured to never exceed 30 mm/s and 20 mm/s minimum (the Polyflex filament manufacturer preconises 40 mm/s max.).

I used masked tape to avoid too much adhesion on the bed.
Result : 2 tires successful printed !

however, the use of Giroid pattern with 15% infill made the tire flexible but relatively hard.

facing the successful tires printing, I changed to grid pattern (to make it more flexible) and increase the printing speed to 40 mm/s max.

But it doesn't print after 3-4 mm, the extruder stuff the filament and get out of the way.

I tried to return at 30 mm/s without success. 3 failures until now.

the printer doesn't like the grid pattern ?

As well, my printer is in a ikea box and with the hot temperature of moment (in France), i tell myself to close the box generate more filament dilatation and increase the risk of jamming on the extruder and get out the filament.

I probably try to print the tire with the box totally open.
I don't know if the extrusion multiplier parameter can change something, i read that on other topic.

If you have some recommandation ?

RE: print of flex filament on MK3S

I usually approach the speed setting through the max volumetric infill. 1,5mm^3/sec have worked quite well for me. As a separator against the heated buildplate I use 3DLac which gives enough adhesion and allows for easy removal of prints.

If the filament comes out on the side of the extruder you can always try slowing down and/or increasing the hotend temperature slightly. Reducing retractions (not necessarily the length but the frequentness) can help a lot.
