Powder coated sheet perimeters not sticking

I am have a real issue with getting PLA to stick to the Powder coated sheet near the corners, what I am finding is that the Z value required to make the skirt and perimeters stick in these areas means that when the squares are filled in they are rough due to nozzle being too low? Anything I try to do, such as adjusting Z, adding bed level correction offset value etc affects both the perimeters and the infill, the Prusa guidance states NOT to use glue stick, what else could I possibly do?? The bed is level with only a 0.05mm variance, I am printing at bed temp of 70 and hotend temp of 215 at 20mm/s.

Many Thanks

I'm assuming that you are confident that your sheet is really most sincerely clean, correct?

You may want to look into the advanced bed level correction, as it looks like the front is the section that has the issue and this will allow you to add a correction factor for the front.  It's outlined here:

In general, I've had good luck with the textured sheet, but I admit that PLA is the most tricky as far as getting the first layer to stick.

One thing I've been sold on (which is not an alternative to a clean sheet or a good calibration) is the Layerneer Bed Weld adhesive.  It really helps when PLA simply refuses to stick properly.  It's particularly helpful in getting the first layer of small supports done with PLA to stick.

Thanks for your reply, yes I have been cleaning the sheet with hot soapy water and also wiping with IPA.   In general I'm having no problem with the sheet when the print is small enough to not reach the front corners of the bed.   I have tried the advanced bed level correction but it affects the perimeters and the infill, so if I use it to raise the front slightly and get the corner outer perimeters to stick then the filled area will get even rougher, its very annoying!

I'll have a look at the Bed Weld, does it clean off the powder coated sheet ok?

Cheers

Paul

Hi Pau,

Are you using 7x7 Mesh Bed levelling (Available through the LCD Menus )
this causes the printer to test 49 points on the build plate instead of the normal 9 points.

try washing the build plate, and NOT using IPA... you might find the results better!

what do you use for First Layer Calibration.?

I use this

@jsw

I have second jsw. Layerneer bed weld is fantastic.  I would try glue stick first if you have it, but I keep a bottle of this stuff read to use for difficult surfaces and filaments.
