Occasional crystalline bobs

Hello,

on some prints I get strange crystalline blobs in the middle of the print. The blobs are hard and shatter like a sort of glass and not like filament. The color is a transparent brown. Sometimes it lies on top of the print and sometimes it gets included. What could this be? Am I printing to hot? Anyone had this?

Thanks

Kind regards

What filament are you printing with? That looks like oozing PETG is cooking on the hotend and dropping off.

Remove the part cooling fan and carefully inspect (with a light) the top of the heater block where it inserts into the heat sink fan part. See if you spot any filament puddling up there or accumulated black stuff. If so, your nozzle is not properly tightened, filament is oozing out the top, cooking on the heater block and falling down into your print.

If not, good, but you may just have some filament build up on your heater block. Consider cleaning it off periodically -- I like to heat it up then use a strip of stiff corrugated cardboard to scrape gunk off -- and using a silicone sock. That will both prevent filament from building up on the block, and stabilize nozzle temperatures, both good things.

@bobstro

Hi, its PLA but you are right. There is indeed a tiny pillar of oozing next to the heatbreak. Thanks for the tip. Guess it loosened with time after I changed the Nozzle.

So now I fixed it. Turns out the Nozzle was actually completely loose. Its a wonder all the prints still turned out perfect 🙂
