Large, flat surface on bed or use supports?

Hi,

I was wondering what would be the best (safest?) way to print this object: in this orientation (first image), obviously with a lot of supports, or flip it so the large flat surface lays on the bed and no supports are needed (second image)? Of course, this would speed up the print a lot and also save on material. But maybe the huge first layer could create issues ?

What would you recommend?

Your detail should definitely be placed with the large surface down, because then you will get the finest surface finish. Any other placement will cause you problems of some kind.
