Help with Mk3

Hello,

I purchased a mk3 in 2018 and I had very unreliable results. After a bit I got a better plate and upgraded to mk3s; I started getting more reliable prints however it is still a pain to calibrate the machine every time I change the filament (e.g. pla to abs or petg) or if I even change manufacturer. I guess this is the 3d life.

however, in general when printing in petg if the part is tall the nozzle eventually hits the part and the print is ruined. I have tried all recommendations even located the printer in a warm location. Cleaned nozzle, recalibrated, nada. I am printing (or trying to) the parts for the enclosure (due to the inconsistency I constantly get); I am using prusa settings, yet consistently the print fails in the same place. I tried everything and this is another disappointment. Father several attempts, I am about to give up on 3d printing altogether. Please see the attached photo, the Gail is consistent every time and I cannot go through what’s the fix. Calibrated, used a tent to eliminate admit draft, etc. This is tiring. I am a person that builds his own drones, model airplanes, electronics to a fair level and it is very frustrating that the results are so inconsistent and it is disappointing the machine seem to useful to do little adornments and not prototyping. I appreciate your help to solve this issue, I feel like doing a masters degree in prusa printer((((

RE: Help with Mk3

Those are really thin walls to be printing to any significant height.  They'll simply flex too much and break from the build plate. Try adding a brim to the part.  5 to 8 mm should be enough as a test.

That said, it looks like the part isn't being sliced right, and the area where the part's wings join aren't properly connecting (why the wing is able to fall over). Examine the slice and make sure the join area is actually a join, not some gap.

ps: post the stl or 3mf and others can have a look at what might be happening.

Also, for future reference, adhesion in general may be part of the problem. Try a good soap and hot water wash - don't follow with alcohol - use fresh paper towels to dry, then bake the sheet dry at 80c for several minutes.

@tim-m30

Well the file is the one provided by prusa, with prusa settings. I am busy enough with my models to start thinkerinf also with an enclosure promoted by prusa, it’s just sad that I have to spend countless hours fixing something that it was supposed to work straight away.

This is the most challenging of the files for LACK enclosure. After a few attempts I gave up and rearranged the parts to lay flat instead of standing up, and everything printed perfectly.
