Flexfill 98A - no good extrusion

Hello 3d printing folks!

I am struggeling with this ugly flexfill 98A, but it fits my solution best.

It is very hard to explain: I preheat the printer and then run the extruder motor to run out some flexfill. And it comes out, not like a straight line, but thick and thin, in very short distances between thick and thin. If I move it between my fingers it feels rough.

It is the same when printing a modell. The modell has no smooth surface and is not very robust.

It can not be the settings as I also have it in manual mode. And even got some good models out. I also cleaned the extruder with ABS-T, which didn't have this.

Do you have any suggestions what can be the issue?

Here is some picture of the result and one of the string, where you can a little see the roughness of it.Here is some picture of the result and one of the string, where you can see the roughness of it.

@schlager-rupert

Could your filament be damp?

I hoped for another answer, but seems like I needed to waste one role of filament to learn this.

I took of 20 meters of it, but still have the issue.

How likely is the chance that I can dry it with normal household equipment? Or better just to buy a new role?

I found this page about that topic:

I want to give it a try unless you don't tell me that it is not possible at home.

Hi,
If you have an electric domestic oven that can reliably run at low temperatures, you can try heating the roll in the oven for several hours at 55C

if you have a humidity meter, you can try putting that in the oven to monitor the oven humidity... 🙂

https://www.printdry.com/how-to-dry-filaments/

DO not use a GAS oven,
two reasons..

Gas ovens tent to cycle Hot /cool Hot/Cool...     and melt your filament  and probably the reel at the hot points......
And Gas Combustion causes water as a by product.

not a good mix, for drying filament

I put a sacrificial roll end in my oven to test the meltability factor, with a temperature / hygrometer...  While I watched, it was OK, and after a couple of hours the roll was still roll shaped, with filament still on it... not a blob of PLA,,,,  🙂

I have a sheet of teflon in the bottom of the oven and put a metal tray under my reel, Just  in case...   Mine is a fan assist oven

Thank u!

I have a brand new electric oven with 4D Hotair-ventilated... don't know the english term exactly, but best fries ever!!!

I put only somewhat 10 m inside on an empty spool and used the 100°C, from my link above.

Perfect printing now!!! Thank you @joantabb for your help!
