RE: First layer issue

Apparently, Sunlu has a history of incorrectly labeling their PETG. I'd ignore the sticker. It might be worth doing a temperature tower print with the stuff if you plan on using it regularly. Some users report it performing better at 245C which is more typical for PETG.

And agreeing with Tim, that sure looks like a fingerprint in that spot. Easy test would be to move the part and see if the defect sticks with the bed or the part. Or just clean the PEI sheet.

RE: First layer issue

Thanks all for your advices.

I've run another life z, and it seems OK to be (I raised the Z a bit to test, and I could peel the lines, so I reverted back).

I guess you are all right, it was just some oil corruption on the sheet or something, although I try to carefully clean it before each print 🙂

I printed a temp tower last year when I bought this filament (and still have it) but I only printed from 200 to 220, as I didn't want to go beyond the sticker 🙂

I'll do another one up to 250 then, and reply here if someone needs the info in the future.

RE: First layer issue

I just checked profile from what I last printed with it.

First layer
245C/85C

Other layers
245C/90C

I think I just copied the generic petg profile and adjusted the temps.  I have a number of temp towers but I never printed one with this.   I do know this I had filament loading issues with this stuff and the MMU.  I've not tried it again recently though.   That could have just been normal MMU stupidness

I'm starting a new print, changed temp to what @ssill2 suggested, fully recleaned my sheet, changed calibration from 3x3 to 7x7 (don't know when this was added or if it was when I purchased my printer 2y ago, but it should be the default).

First layer looks just perfect, not a single artifact!

Thanks everybody 🙂

For whatever reason, Prusa thinks adding 30 seconds to a print that is going to take 36 hours is a problem ... so they stick with 3x3.

RE: First layer issue

I've got both my printers going on a nearly 3 day long print lol.  In the grand scheme you're right, 30 extra seconds to get a good leveling in is nothing.
