Failure at same height on multiple prints

I was extremely careful building the kit.  It calibrates flawlessly.  There are no first layer adhesion issues.  It prints short prints perfectly.  However...

Every single time I try to print something tall, it fails at about the exact same height.  I do not have time lapse video set up but what is happening is the print either delaminates from the bed or the extruder grabs it and drags it around as it pumps out filament.  I find the print dislodged from the base and a massive brillo pad left behind.

Someone, anyone, please advise.  There are no drafting issues.  I'm using basic stock settings from Slicer 2.0  These are stock Prusa g-codes like the Hellboy bust.  Also the interlocking hex drawer that everyone prints.  It looks great until the failure.

Thanks!  I'm a noob, but willing to learn!

Post a photo of the bad parts.  Be sure to use the Link To Media File option ... it's important.

But generally - adhesion problems are due to bed contamination.  A soap and hot water wash is the best way to get the crud off.  And remember that fingerprints are the enemy: never touch the bed print surface with your fingers.

Hot Water wash: often, as needed, and after any of the above

  • Handle the bed only by the edges.
  • Wash the bed in hot water, use a fresh paper towel as a wash cloth, with a few drops of plain dish soap (Dawn, unscented, no anti-bacterial, etc.).
  • Rinse well in hot water - if you have very soft water, rinse a bit longer.
  • Dry the bed with a fresh paper towel.
  • Handle the bed only by the edges.
  • Place bed on printer.
