Clear Filament loads to nozzle but then endless extrusion

Hi,

I got the Prusa MK3S with MMU2S.

It prints fine in general, but now I am trying to use som clear PETG.

It loads to nozzle and starts extrusion but will never stop. Seems lik it doens't sense that it started extrusion.

Any tips what could be wrong?

Cheers,

Kai

Firstly One question: do the gears turning, or just the filament is oozing?

tip :  filament sensor does not rcognize that the transparent filament is moving so tries to cotinuosly turn the gears until it recognizes the filament is in.

Try to switch of the filament senzor and automatic filament load and try to load filament manually via command.

The gears are turning.

I was able to print with this filament prior to the MMU2S Upgrade, so I think it's really a problem with the new IR Sensor build.

I tried switching of the filament sensor but that didn't help.

When I do a test print, it calibrates, homes to first position and the equally starts extruding and never stops.

How do I have to modify the gcode to get him just printing and ignoring the IR Sensor?

Thanks!

Kai

sounds like the IR sensor is not detecting the filament is in the bondtech's and is still trying to load

the filament may be a bit smaller that spec or softer

Just a simple question, did this start happening after you assembled the MMU or you have got it already factory assembled?

I thought the issue of the filament sensor not detecting transparent filaments was an issue with the direct sense (optical mouse sensor) used on the MK3 extruder. The OP describes a MK3S that has the optical gate sensor that is either triggered by a ball bearing in the filament path for the MK3S configuration or the Bondtech pinch gears opening up for the MK3S+MMU2S (tower sensor) configuration. Likely the latter since the OP says he has an MMU2S.
