3d Thread Measurements

How do i measure threads for a part so i can insert a my own designed threads part in it, i know how to design threads in fusion-360 but i am not sure about best way to go about measuring threads that are standard and not standard?

do i use a caliper to measure the peak to peak distance and then hight and how many thread rings per inch/cm....???

do i need to measure other factors, the shape(profile) of the threads etc...or do i need to just keep trying and testing tweaking the profile until it fits?

what is the best way you guys have done it, do you have videos i can learn from found some but not sure if they are thorough

example (might be hard to get in there but still how can this be mesured)
