Y Axis Crashing - Odd Sound from Y axis motor when printing (video)

Howdy,

Hoping folks can point me in the right direction.  I've put a half dozen prints through my printer.  They've turned out fine.  I checked my crashes though and I've had 27 Y axis crashes so far.  Anyone heard this sound before and know what I could check?

Belt Status is x 267 and y is 272.

Thanks!

Hans

This sounds is nearly gone when in stealth mode.

Read about that here - https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/5xygje/odd_musical_noises_when_printing/

I'm new to 3d printers.  Is this normal operation sound normal for steppers?

The Steppers do make odd noises when making complex movements, circles in particular are noticeable because the X axis and Y axis movements are constantly changing.   Check that your Y motor mount is tight there might be a tiny bit of movement causing the motor to rattle against the back plate of the printer bed.

Thanks for the response.  You weren't kidding.  I can fit a piece of paper in there.  Wonder if it'd be worth putting a piece of electrical tape between the motor and the back plate?

Either that or moving forward in the mount (there usually is some play when you loosen the screws) so that it's far enough from the back plate so that vibrations can't make the motor to touch the back plate.
