X axis layer shifting

Having problems with layer shifting on the x-axis.

The x-axis seems to shift for a few layers then shift back.  Seems to be getting worse.

Tried taking apart the head and adjusting the belt tension.  No avail.  Tried tightening all of the screws I can reach.  Also tried recalibrating.

Only thing that seems to help is to print VERY slowly.

No problem on the y-axis.  Got some prusamint petg and printed the belt calibration tool.  Looks ok.  Pictures attached.

Driving me crazy.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best

Check your connection to the Rambo board, it may be a bit loose.  I had an Ender 3 with a bad cable between the board and the X axis servo, once I replaced it the problem was solved.  Prusa uses higher quality parts, but the plug may be a little loose.

Thanks Bob.  Worth a try.  I tried removing and reseating the connector for the x axis motor.  No joy.

Super strange.

How about a losen pulley screw? Or temperature-profile issue?

Is it happening allways?

Hi Zoltan,

Yeah. It does seem to happen consistently.  Often in the same place if I print the same file.

What I cant figure out is why it shifts back.  If it was missing steps, I would think it would just get further and further off.

Also happens in stealth mode, so it cant be crashing and re homing.

I will check for a loose pulleys.

Solved!

Tightened the screws that hold the x axis stepper motor shaft to the belt.

Also reduced the max acceleration in the slicer, but I think the tightening the screws did the trick.  Printing a old file to confirm.

Thank you for all of the suggestions here.
