Slic3r Printing with Soluble Supports

When using Slic3r to print the soluble interface supports, everything looks okay after the slicing.   The problem comes when I hit export G-Code.  The preview changes and shows the soluble material swapping with regular material every other line, for the entire layer.

I haven't tried printing yet as I don't feel like wasting good material, but have others experienced this?

On a side note, is there any reason why the slicer would generate supports where there is nothing on top of it?  That happens to me too.

Both effects can be seen the the following screenshots.

RE: Slic3r Printing with Soluble Supports

Do some searching - there are some issues with how you select materials for each extruder - like soluable has to be 5, or somethign similar. The issue is also being discussed on Github. And there are current threads here discussing it.
