Self test, axis, bed level, sudden trouble

Ok, I don't even really know where to start.  Never had issues before so I'm just going to go through the sequence of events here...

This is a well working printer, no problems with it for about a year now.  Finally hopped on board the octoprint bandwagon this weekend and got that all running successfully.   Everything was fine... until it wasn't...

I installed the spaghetti detective pluggin.  Rebooted, and immediately got a message that the pluggin was out dated and needed to be updated.  Thought that was odd since I had literally just installed it.  Anyway, clicked update and it did its thing, I did see it go from i think 1.5.0 to 1.5.1...  after that was completed I uploaded and started a new print.  It heated up but then failed as it tried to home the axis, z specifically, and gave me an error that said something like auto level failed, confirm nozzle is clear awaiting reset.   So... I reset... I happen to see (possibly for the first time) a message flash that an updated firmware is available, please update.   It finishes booting... I try to move the z axis manually by using the long press of the know.  It let's me go all the way up but only a very small amount down.   The screen claims the x axis is at 0.0 but it's actually nearly all the way up.   I tried running a self test, that failed as well but on the z axis.  Said something about z axis travel too much or something... not sure... anyway.   Kinda last here, not sure where to start.   Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sooo... tried flashing, that claimed it failed but after digging it looks like I'm running the latest fw on the printer. The problem was that the Z seemed to be stuck up high so I shut the thing off and started moving it by hand, the left side felt odd and then finally broke loose and moved freely, then I noticed this... I had used a couple zip ties as a quick, temporary solution to hold the USB cable... well, this was the first time the z carriage had gotten up that high and the nob of the zip tie was interfering with the z movement. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️ about to try a print.
/sigh

And yup... it's working lol least it was nothing drastic
