No. It does not. I’m getting the same end-melt jam as everyone in the forum is describing. It seems like heat creep from the nozzle. Causing the PLA to soften too early.

My issues with every time jamming during long lasting prints (20-30h) with PLA, especially ones containing long series of quick retractions over little details of the model were solved by arming hotend with regular E3D heatbreak and later rebuilding whole extruder into Skelestruder. Resolving two suspected reasons which were unusual shape of Prusa edition heatbreak and heat creep from the extruder motor getting scorching hot.

So far do not experienced more weird jams, beside maybe one but this one was case of wearing PTFE tube debris getting into the nozzle. So in my case switching heatbreak and then modding the extruder indeed resolved this issue.

If anybody is interested, I've tried to compile all the problems and fixes into my Mk3 notes. I'm still consolidating things and there is some redundancy, but most issues are listed along with possible fixes.

Is there any official response from Prusa on this?  I just measured the end of a pull at 2.2mm on my brand new mk3s+ so this still appears to be an issue.  I have not had this problem with Prusament PLA or PETG from any brand, but I've had this happen with budget filaments from Bing3D and GST3D.  Is there a good budget PLA brand in the states that is reliable with the stock mk3s setup?

Issue seems to be most prevalent on models with lots of quick retractions like others have mentioned.  Printing hotter and faster with less retraction length seems to alleviate the issue for me.  I may have to try and stick with printing more PETG and one of these days I'll just upgrade to a Dragon hotend or something without this 2.2mm throat.

Ive just ordered a MK3s+ ... should I buy the MK2 Heat brake or a titanium one as I expect to be printing mostly mono colour and PLA or PETG. I live in Australia and we have fairly high ambient temps.

I'm surprised that PRUSA which I arrived at based on all of teh "Premium" / "Amazing support" testimonials , is still silent on this after 3 years.  That is a really bad look!

if I’m building my kit and change the heartbreak do I need different size ptfe tube as well?

 

im glad I’ve been pre reading. As a novice user technical design hiccups can be a showstopper if they intimidate through multiple failure events. 

has anyone asked Joseph about this at an open question forum? Communication with a community is so so important with open source platforms. Genuine problems raised aren’t always “toxic” or “aggressive” undermining (I’ve seen a few very defensive prusa posts on reddit)

I was getting a lot of jams last year and changed two things.

1) I was switching the printer off without letting it cool down first. That immediately stops the cooling, the heat then transfers up into the heatbreak causing the filament to melt which I did not notice until the next time I used the printer. Now I always set the printer to cooldown and don't turn it off until below 70c.

2) I was unloading the filament at different stages of heating.  Now I always let it heat up, push out some filament to check it's running cleanly and then unload.

I don't think that is the answer.  I have been printing for over 3 years and have 13 Prusa printers.   I have never experienced that to be the problem.

They work as well as E3D but are not superior.  Fort the price, it is worth the purchase.
