Prusa E3D Hot Ends don't have locking clips??

I had a mishap with my MK3S that made a real mess on my hot end (printed PETG with PLA settings, unmonitored for about 5 hours).  I was able to clean it up and get it printing again, but I noticed that the collet in the heat sink that is supposed to hold the PTFE tube was missing.  Since I had no choice I put it back together that way.

I also ordered a new complete hot end from Prusa directly.  It arrived today, and that brand new part also has no locking clip under the collet.

Is this normal?   All of the E3D guides I have read say that the clip needs to be under the collet to secure the PTFE tube in place.

Attached are pics of my brand new hot end, as well as the clip I am talking about.

Yep - yet another Prusa mystery. I printed one and installed it ...

ps: the clip is a bit less effective with the cheap version of the heatsink Prusa uses (sans brass insert), but I printed mine a tad thicker so it was a friction fit. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2478545

According to the info I read from prusa this is normal.

They do not use the clip, you pull the black clip out while holding the ptfe tube in, it does lock the tube in place, but I never understood the reason why prusa did not place a 5p clip on for belt and braces.

Tank you very much!

I always fit them anyway.  Some people do have problems with their ptfe tube moving up when they have jams or other filament feed issues so adding it makes so much sense.  Especially as they are part of every kit e3d sell.
