Problem with slicer

I have experienced that sometimes the slicer adds a layer that is not in the original drawing. I have made the 3D in SketchUp and exported to STL file. I have checked the STL file in Inventor - and there is no problem.

Thanks Lars Bo Wassini

RE: Problem with slicer

Can you post a link to an STL with this problem? Ideally, zip & upload your project file with your settings and the part. Without that, we're pretty much guessing.

Ah! It didn't allow me to upload STL files. I forgot all about ZIp files 😉

This is the STL file:

It seems that this "fix through the Netfabb" did fix the problem:

RE: Problem with slicer

There are problems slicing with Cura as well. The extra layer is gone, but the holes along the back wall are also missing.

RE: Problem with slicer

It is how the part is being built; some of the features are multiple parts, for example the 10bT hole has an extra "wall" in it from the surface below the hole.  Basically, all of the component bits were never fused properly before moving on in the design.  I think it's a bug in the union code of the CAD tool.

Also, the model isn't even manifold.  So lots of things to fix back in Sketchup.

RE: Problem with slicer

Wow - tried every trick I know of to get errors down, and got to 148, and still not manifold, and still open vertices.  The model is a mess.
