MMU2 Single mode with Filament other than 1

If I use PrusaSlicer configured in Single mode, the printer will warm up and then prompt me for a filament number. I can choose any number and the correct filament is loaded and the initial line printed at the bottom of the build plate.

Then, regardless of what filament I chose, the printer will attempt to switch back to filament 1. This is very frustrating, because I have the filament I want to use loaded in another slot, and it's a huge PITA to remove it from the buffer and then re-add it to slot 1. I'm instead mismatching the input tubes on the back, which makes me cringe.

Is this a common problem? How do I fix it?

Thanks.

easiest way is to set multicolour in  prusa slicer and set the prefered extruder for the part, if there is only one colour on the whole build plate it will not create a purge block
