MK3S/MMU2S 3.8.0/1.0.6 firmware really unstable?

I rebuilt my printer with ABS parts because of some heat related issues with the original ones, and when I finished the build I found there was fresh firmware, so I updated.  I've had some really strange bugs since the update.

In the first day or two I noticed more than one self-reset acting like I pressed the reset button on the front panel and just restarting the printer in the early stages after starting a print.  Since then, I've had a whole bunch of errors with my MMU2S specifically, in the last print I've had more than half a dozen full module crashes (all lights flashing together), I've had the MMU2S self restting itself somehow (and for some reason) only, I've had the unit forgetting which filament it was on, or resetting itself and then not bothering to rehome the filament selector so it loads and tries to print with the wrong one, and I've even had two instances where somehow (maybe a self reset), the MMU2S tried to switch to another filament when a filament was loaded and the FINDA probe detected it correctly, just jamming itself up in the process.

I think I've even noticed that when the IR sensor is open but the FINDA probe is closed at the start of an unload, sometimes this just seems to hard crash the MMU2S.  Up until this firmware update I had NEVER used the reset button next to the USB port and had only seen the full lights flashing a couple of times.... but since the firmware update I've used it a dozen times and seen the full crash quite a few times now.

I think it's clear I need to downgrade to continue with any MM prints, but has anyone else ran into this?  I updated my PrusaSlicer as well, so the gcode that the MMU2S was running when most of the crashes were happening wasn't like old incompatible gcode or something.

Hi ,i have noted the latest firmware is making my upgraded is MK3s slower, more jerky and generally not acting like the previous firmware version, my solution was to change back and everything is as before

make sure you are grabbing the right firmware for your machine mk3 vs mk3s and try a factory reset with data clear and re-run the calibration wizard

I can confirm that 3.8.0(with a small modification)+1.0.6 finally reached a stable condition for my MK3s/MMU2s. 1500+ tool changes without any intervention and if using stringy filament, it's easy to recover and move on with the print.

First of all the all red light blinking doesn't mean a hard reset. The MMU2 although perform at some situations very similar actions. So for you the first step would be to identify and classify the issues.

When exactly does the error occur? At which state is the printer? There are tons of different states so you need to understand when what is happening. We can help you with that.

You've rebuild your whole printer. This is where you have to look first 😉  .

Went the last week or so printing single type prints and the occasional reset was only a nuisance, went to switch filament again today (after several successful ones earlier in the day) and the MMU2S is looping in reset.

I don't remember what caused the initial reset, but since then whenever it tries to change, it tries to home itself, changes position to the filament selected, then immediately goes solid all lights on and self-resets.

Does the MMU2S even have the capability to reset itself?  I do still need to downgrade to try it, but it's beginning to smell like a hardware problem now (like voltage dipping when enough steppers are active).  No resets or crashes when it's not doing anything or when feeding filament, it seems to be linked to filament selecting in some way.

Tomorrow I'll try the downgrade, and I guess it will be for both the printer and MMU2S, since I doubt the newer printer firmware will like the old MMU2S firmware.
