I have my MK3S for almost a year now and it is a really great printer. I've had one problem with the printer on power on. Occasionally when the printer is powered on the display will hang with the fans running and it would stay in that state until powered off. Sometimes the hang would stop when the X reset tab is pressed, but more often I have to power down and power up again. This has been happening with more and more frequency for the past 4 months.

I contacted support about the problem to ask for a replacement motherboard before the problem becomes permanent maybe right after my warranty expires. I have been working with PRUSA's  Šimon Doubek. Šimon has had me run through a number of tests to try and isolate the problem. The last test he suggested was to pull all the wires on the board except power and display and cycle power. This test progressed through all the connections to the mother board with the no hangs until I plugged in the USB cable connected to my Windows 10 computer. As if to emphasize that I found the problem the printer hung 3 times on power cycle in a row, once the USB cable was connected.

Has anyone here ever had their Einsy RAMBo card hang on power up with a Windows 10 computer plugged into the USB port?

Never had that myself.

Some things I can think of:

What drivers have you got in?  Did you install the full software suite with the drivers from https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/

Using the supplied USB cable? and tried another just in case its a faulty cable.  Tried a different USB port and/or port type (try USB2 if its in a USB3 port or vice versa)

Do you have another PC or laptop you can try to eliminate the pc completely?

Sorry cant be of more help.

Which firmware version are you using ? (There is a known issue in 3.9.3 with some printers hanging in a boot loop)

@clarmrrsn Looks like you nailed it. First I tried a short USB cable to a laptop and could not duplicate the hang. Then I tried  a longer cable with good results. Then I tried the alternate long cable into my Windows 10 PC and could not duplicate the hang. Looks like I had a faulty USB cable between the Windows 10 computer and the MK3S.

Thanks!
