MK3S extrudes extra filament after color change

I am printing multiple colors with single extruder MK3S.  It works well except for one thing.

I eject the old filament, load the new, and some of the new is extruded to clear the old color from the extruder.  The extruder stops extruding. This looks good.  The extruder is ready to print the new filament.

After I press the button to say "Yes, filament loaded correctly" (or something like that), about 5cm of the new filament is extruded and then the print head moves back to the print to continue printing.  I have to quickly brush this 5cm piece off the nozzle so it doesn't get stuck on the print.  If I miss brushing away even a mm of the filament hanging out the the extruder I get a blob on my print.

Is there a setting to prevent this from happening, or is it a bug in PrusaSlicer?

I am using PrusaSlicer 2.3.0, MK3S firmware updated to 3.9.3 one week ago.  I am printing Prusament PETG with default settings.

Nope that’s normal and it’s not from the slicer. It’s actually the printer firmware that does it. All slicer is doing is issuing the filament change command.

The correct operation is to load in the new filament but don’t immediately remove the purge filament, then grip it with tweezers and then hit the ok. It will then purge a little more and move to resume, as it moves away as you are holding it still it will then remove itself from the nozzle.

It's easy to deal with this.  Instead of grabbing the pile of filament after confirming the color change (and ripping it free from the nozzle) - leave it there but grab it gently so it does not tear off.  Then press the button and the head will start moving - trailing a stream of more filament.  It is still stuck to the original pile - so wait till it gets close to the print, and pull - it all comes off clean.
