MK3 does not recognize FlashAir card?

Hi,

I have Prusa MK3 and a 16 Gb Toshiba's FlashAir W-04 WiFi card formatted in FAT-32.

1. The MK3 is working fine with the stock 8 Gb card.
2. The FlashAir card works fine if inserted into PC or Canon camera.
3. However, if I insert FlashAir card into MK3 - then MK3 says "No SD card".

I checked that I insert the card the proper way (contacts are up, logo down). I have tried to reboot MK3 while card is inserted. I have tried to select card type = FlashAir in MK3's settings. I have tried to reboot after settings change while card is inserted. Nothing helps.

However, MK3 is able to tell when card is inserted and removed. E.g. if I turn it on without card, and then insert the card - MK3 will tell me that the card was inserted, but still fails to recognize it saying that there is no SD card.

BTW, if I select "No SD card" in the menu - MK3 will show empty directory tree. This behaviour is different from the usual case: when no SD card is inserted and you select "No SD card" in the menu - nothing happens, there is no empty directory tree.

I was on older firmware, FlashAir did not work, then I have flashed MK3 to the latest firmware - FlashAir still doesn't work.

What am I missing? Does anyone else have such problem?

Please note, I do NOT have a problem with configuring FlashAir card itself. It is working properly in the PC and Canon camera. I have problem with MK3 recognizing SD card.

P.S. Unfortunately, Prusa support was less than helpful for me.

Re: MK3 does not recognize FlashAir card?

Hi,

I'm currently using a FlashAir SD card in my MK3 without any issue, so this may not be related to the printer. On my side, I had issues to properly configure it and it didn't want to connect to my main Wifi router so I had to connect it directly to my provider router, but this thread has been helpful: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/user-mods-octoprint-enclosures-nozzles--f65/flashair-wifi-sd-card-setup-and-drive-mapping-t13693-s200.html

Have you tried to update the firmware of your FlashAir card?
And to reinitialize it with the Toshiba software?

I have Prusa MK3 and a 16 Gb Toshiba's FlashAir W-04 WiFi card formatted in FAT-32.
I've got the same card in the same configuration.

However, MK3 is able to tell when card is inserted and removed. E.g. if I turn it on without card, and then insert the card - MK3 will tell me that the card was inserted, but still fails to recognize it saying that there is no SD card.I find that I have to push the card fully in, then back it out about 1mm for it to be recognized. Interestingly, this only started after updating firmware, although this hardware issue shouldn't be related to firmware. I see the "card inserted" message, but "no SD card" shows in menu until I press it fully in, then back it out a tiny amount until the screen flashes. Once it's recognized, it's fine until I remove the card again.

[...] I was on older firmware, FlashAir did not work, then I have flashed MK3 to the latest firmware - FlashAir still doesn't work.I have my SD card setting in firmware set to NORMAL (not FLSHAIR).

[...] P.S. Unfortunately, Prusa support was less than helpful for me.This is a 3rd party product. I wouldn't expect Prusa's support to have any particular expertise with it.

Oh, my. You are my hero.

Indeed, I have to partially pull it off! 😯

It seems like either mechanical problem with SD card slot or perhaps a power issue.
