MINTEMP error

Hi, I have a preassembled MK3s purchased July 2019. Been working great so far. I upgraded the FW to 3.8.0 2684 two days ago. Printer printed fine. Then last night, got "MINTMP error", "MINTEMP fixed", "Please restart".  Nozzle heats up fine to 215, bed to 65.

So far, I've tried several Restarts, power off/power on, reflash to previous FW, flash to newest FW, disconnected/reconnected thermistor, all other connections look good. I don't know what else to try.

Temp in room is 29 degrees Celsius, 45% humidity. I have two other Prusa's next to this one. Both were kits. Both latest FW. Both working fine.

I did find this - https://help.prusa3d.com/article/am4dykf2rw-mintemp. I haven't tried testing with multimeter yet.

Appreciate any help/suggestions/fixes. Let me know if more information is needed.

Thanks

RE: MINTEMP error

I was having same issues after 3.8 upgrade on my Mk3s.  Mine is a kit that is only a month old and under 100 hours.   I switched back to 3.7.2 . and have not had an issue since. I have already ordered new thermistors for extruder and heat bed being I also had to reorder smooth rods as min x axis is already scored.   Ordered Misumi bearings and rods from another vendor as well.

RE: MINTEMP error

I have a MK3S kit that has been running for 6d 7h, 282m of filament and am now running into "MINTEMP FIXED", "please restart".  I had flashed to 3.8.0-2684 when I got the printer kit last month.  Since that flash to v3.8, I've run a half dozen larger prints through the printer without real problems and now suddenly hit the MINTEMP FIXED error.  I flashed back to firmware v3.7.2-2363 and still got the error.  Looking at statistics, I have had 8 powerfails and 31 y-axis crashes.  No idea if this is normal or uncommon.

Guess I have to order replacement thermistors for extruder and heat bed.  Am anxiously awaiting a response from PRUSA support to see if they have any ideas.

@junkmail

forgot to mention that I did a factory reset before I flashed back to 3.7.2.  Have you tried that ?

RE: MINTEMP error

Also having the same problem a couple days after updating the firmware to 3.8.0. After doing a factory reset and then updating the firmware back to 3.7.2 it seems to be working again.

RE: MINTEMP error

Had the same error. It was a broken thermistor cable. Surprisingly it wasn't broken at the hot-end but near the control board.

Might have been the cable inlet that caused the damage.

So instead of ripping apart the extruder I'd give that cable a try:

- Hook up a multimeter and check the resistance. Should be around 100k R.

- Wiggle the cable until you find the weak spot.

- Remove broken part + solder. Done.

Worked for me, BR

RE: MINTEMP error -- gets worse

I tried to solve the problem by purchasing a completely new, assembled hotend E3D/MK3S.  This did not fix the problem  My printer is dead.  I should go try the factory reset mentioned above.  Unfortunately, support isn't answering my email request that's over 24 hours old.  Part of the reason I bought this printer was a description of support, yet I have not heard something about my dead machine.  I don't know how to get more interest from Prusa about my printer.

RE: MINTEMP error

I did a factory reset of the printer, ran it through the wizard, and now I get "Err: MINTEMP BED".  I got as far as doing the paper-on-the-bed calibration.  The unit won't respond to any input.

RE: MINTEMP error

mintemp bed is usually the bed thermister failing or a broken wire to the bed thermister

@nikolai-r

Hi sorry if i have offended any one.

i can start a print and all looks fine, going well and them min temp error comes up.

this can be any thing from a minuet to a couple of hours, so very random.

so far i have watched the temp on the screen and have not seen it drop, which i thought it would drop first and then go to min temp.

i have a new thermistor on the way, but have not got the time to day to have a good look at the wire/ connections

will have a look later

RE: MINTEMP error

Think i might have solved it, while i was about to change the thermistor,I saw that it was sticking out a long way through the body.

i dont know where it reads the temp from, along the body or near the end. Can some one explain that?

anyway pulled it back so it was inside the body and now seems fine, only time will tell

All ok so far

RE: MINTEMP error

finally found my issue and it WAS the bed thermistor wire.  It was pinched at the cable cover replaced it and went ahead and replaced the power wire too and now running first print.  No error yet!!

H Joan

thanks for the reply, just had a look and sorry to say that G code is a bit beyond me at the moment.

have managed to print a benchy and all looks ok at the moment, but i am very unwilling to do some big prints of the 3D labprints  Mig 15 some of which can be up to 17 hours
