Mintemp Error

Hi all. I have been having some issues with temperature errors on our companies MK3. Whenever I start a new print it stops printing after a few minutes reporting a "mintemp bed error". However it then quickly switches to "mintemp fixed please restart". I have done this a few times but the error persists. Its also odd because the error has shown up during different stages of printing. It stopped after a few layers on one print, then after 1 layer and now it can't get past the stage where it primes the nozzle.

I opened up the rambo board, unplugged everything and reconnected it to make sure it was not a cable issue. Also checked the thermometers were in place. Nothing appears to be out of order. I did a quick test and attempted to preheat the bed and nozzle to PLA temperatures. It got up to temperature and stayed there for at least 10 minutes with no problems.  This made me think this was a software issue so I  factory reset the printer and flashed it to the current firmware for the MK3. The issue continues. It won't even go through first layer calibration without the error.  Any ideas on where to go next?

Thanks very much.

RE: Mintemp Error

probably the thermister wire between the back of the extruder assembly and the einsy case, sometimes happens because the nylon support filament is missing, broken or come adrift...

most likely position is right behind the extruder cable fixture

the wire tends to fracture, then go intermittent open circuit as the x axis moves side to side.

if it was mine I would try replacing the mid section of the cable with very flexible wire using heatshrink tubing and solder so that the joints are on the rigid bit of the extruder support and inside the einsy case, and I would make sure the nylon support is present and installed correctly, to support the cables

Thanks Joan and David. Sounds like it a cable issue for sure. I'll check both the bed and the extruder thermister cables and see if there is anything that I can repair.

I'll come back and post with results next week

I have seen this a number of times.  Most often, it is a broken wire to the thermistor, a bad thermistor, or a poor connection.

look here: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-hilfe-zur-hardware-firmware-und-software/fehlermeldung-mintemp-bed/

it is in 99.9% a broken Thermistor wire. I had this problem and changed the wire with a high flexible and heatresistant OELFLEX. Since changed i have not had any problems for half a year...

Hi nick,

did you solve the problem in the meantime?

Hi Karl

We attempted to fix the existing thermostat cable first. We checked to see if there was any exposed wiring etc. However we didn't get anywhere. Things were delayed for a bit but we just got a new thermostat cable. I should be installing within the next couple of days. Fingers crossed that fixes the issue!

Best
