Left & Right Z-Axis Stuck
Hi,
After about 3 months of not using my printer, today for the first time im trying to print again, both of my Z-Axis is stuck.
It is not responding to Move Axis funtion is the printer. Also, when the printer is turned off, i cannot move the Z-Axis manually at all.
One thing to note is that, the Z-Axis motor gets warmer than X-axis and Y-Axis motor when using the Move Axis function, eventhough it is stuck.

Both Z axis motor is jammed and cannot be spinned even when the power is off.

there is a cover over the motor bearing at the bottom of the Z leadscrews, if they are tight they will lock up the leadscrew!

i have checked and loosen the cover. The leadscrew still would not turn.
any other options?

If I understand correctly, and you can't even spin the shafts by hand with the power off, then there is something wrong beyond a simple fix. Is it possible moisture got into it and caused some rust? I wouldn't apply power repeatedly if the shafts are seized.......nothing good will come of it. It seems strange that it happened to both motors at the same time......what environment was it stored in?
If you do manage to break one side or the other free when applying power, raising one side while the other side is locked could cause moderate damage.
Is your printer grinding? Bearings squeaking? Motors smoking?

You are correct, both side are stuck, cannot be spinned by hand even powered off.
I am not sure if moisture is the problem, because in my 3d printing room, there are 2 prusa i3 mk3s here. the other unit is working fine, except continuos problem with MINTEMP fixed. This is another separate issue.
I would say that the room is dry

It seem odd that both motors would jam independently at the same time. IMHO it is more likely that the x-axis is skewed and that could result in the immobilization of both z motors. I’d recommend completely removing one of the z-axis motors along with its threaded rod and then test it for mobility. If it still does not rotate you’re going to need another one anyway.
