impossible to load a filament

Hi,

I need some help please, see what happens :

1. I was printing with PLA on my i3MK3s and it was not a lot of filament, so the priner took all, and printer stops.

2. When I try to put a new filament, impossible : I first heat, and when I try to insert the filament this one goes not through. It's vibrations and noise when I try to do this.

I heated up to 255°, no changes. So has please someone an advice for me ? Thanks  🙂

Sometimes when filament runs out, the very end is bent and gets caught in the sensor housing and jams.  When this happens, you must manually remove the filament by opening up the extruder and while the hot end is heated push or pull the filament up and out of the extruder.  Sometimes opening the idler door is enough; sometimes opening the filament sensor is needed.

RE: impossible to load a filament

From your description, it seems that the setting for the filament sensor is turned off. Make sure the Filament sensor is On and also F. autoload should be On.

With the right settings, it works like this:
1. The filament runs out and the extruder moves in the right front corner and waits for you to press the button so that the remaining filament is ejected.
2. Once the filament is ejected, remove the residue, then feed the new filament down.
3. The extruder feeds a string of filaments and you can confirm Yes to continue.
4. Printing continues where it ended.

If you heat the extruder manually, printing has been interrupted and you have no way to continue printing.
This is not an answer to how to solve your problem, but it is a description of how it should worked if your filament sensor configuration had been OK.

RE: impossible to load - or i fact eject - a filament

@rhdreambox

Hi,

The both sensors are ON.

That didn't happen. I tried again, and no old filament comes. It's the same noise (perhaps is "rattling" a good description) and vibrations when I push the button to eject the filament.

It seems that a piece of old filament is always inside...

What can I please do ? Thanks

@aka

If the extruder does not position at the right front edge then I don't think your filament sensor is working.
Also, look at where your filament has stopped. If it has passed the bondtech wheels then your filament sensor is defective.
If the filament continues up through the extruder then you probably have some trouble down the extruder.

aka, I would stick to Tim´s recomendation. You described, you run out of filament, so the end of the old filament is already gone from the bondtech gears ,but not completely extruded. The new filament loaded, is not able push through the old one - missing continuity between the old a new filament (jam). Disassemble and clean according to Tim´s recommendation and let us know, if it worked.

Thanks everyone,
