Import Slic3r gcode into Prusa Control problem

Hi everyone,

I'm new to 3D printing, in fact I hope that my MK3S kit will arrive in the next two weeks.

But I do have experience with Cinema 4D (old version a long time ago) and so built a guitar knob and some sort of base for a LED traffic light I found on thingyverse.

I imported the STL of the models into Slic3r (latest Prusa edition) with no problems and made some adjustments until I was satisfied with the sliced preview. I then exported everything as a gcode file.

Being curious I imported that gcode into Prusa Control but there in several of the layers some of the lines go straight away from the model like some long spikes sticking out.

Is that normal? Am I not supposed to import gcode into Prusa Control? Are the gcodes of the two programs incompatible? Or is there something wrong with the models I created?

Guido

My advice is to export the sliced gcode from Slic3r onto an SD card and then directly put the gcode into the printer using the SD card. You shouldn't need to use Prusa Control unless you want to use a USB cable. There's also a preview tab in Slic3r if you're ever curious about how the print will turn out.

Thanks David, I will do exactly that, as soon as my printer arrived and is assembled. I was just wondering if there might be an error in the code.
