i3 mk3s fails to boot

Hi everyone,

I've just finished assembling my i3 mk3s and it doesn't boot correctly.

In the first boot I get "original prusa i3 Prusa research" then "sorting files"

and then the "original prusa i3 Prusa research" message again in an endless loop.

If I try to turn it on without SD card after the the behavior changes, I get

"original prusa i3 Prusa research" message I can hear a click and a blanc , I've never achieved to attempt the menu to select the language 🙁

I checked every connection to the motherboard, the led on the power supply is green and everything seems connected correctly, I've unplugged and replugged everything.

I've tried to do a full reset and I can navigate the reset menu without any problem but reset have not helped me solve this issue.

Does anyone have any suggestion?

I've already sent a message to the support but I would like to verify the maximum of causes .. could it be a bad firmware?

Try pressing and holding the LCD Control Knob, then turning the printer on, after a few seconds you should be offered a 'Factory Reset'
with various options,
choose the option that also clears the memory,

then go through the configuration process.

Thank you for you reply 🙂 I've tried for the second time (I've selected the option ""all data" but I get the same behavior, endles loop with  "original prusa i3 Prusa research" message then "sorting files" 🙁 I don't know if this could be caused by a damaged cable or if i need to reinstall the firmware.....

Are you pressing the X button?
It's a RESET button...
Try pressing the Knob!

@slmsr90

I would first perform a factoryreset and reflash the firmware. Try different USB cables.

I you are owner of a MK3 select this firmware: https://cdn.prusa3d.com/downloads/firmware/prusa3d_fw_3_8_1_MK3.zip

MK3S: https://cdn.prusa3d.com/downloads/firmware/prusa3d_fw_3_8_1_MK3S.zip

MK3S/MMU2S: https://cdn.prusa3d.com/downloads/firmware/prusa3d_fw_3_8_1_MK3S_1_0_6_MMU2S.zip

Newest PS 2.2.0 Software: https://cdn.prusa3d.com/downloads/drivers/prusa3D_win_2_3_0.exe

@karl-herbert

Thank you guys for you help, I've performed the following action:

-pressed the Knob button to enter the reset menu

- connected the usb cable to pc

-updated the firmware to latest version via prusa slicer program 🙂

Hope that this will help someone encountering this issue

I'm actually running the self test now and everything works great.

It's quite strange that firmware needed to be flashed............ I've forgot to see the output of the motherboard via proterface...

Regards

Samir

RE: i3 mk3s fails to boot

We had a brownout while the (MK3S) printer was printing, and it stopped. The screen is now stuck with the "Original Prusa i3" message on the screen, and the "..." in the bottom right corner. I tried power off/on, no change. I flashed the firmware again, which it showed on the screen, and it's right back to the same problem. I tried holding the knob, and powering off/on, and it never presents a "reset" menu. Any ideas?

Try to perform a factory reset before flashing the firmware again. It is also important that you download the correct firmware (MK3 or MK3S/+).
