[Hardware] Temp Probe to change, screw on the heat block fucked, what do I do ?

Hola,

I've been trying for months now to fix my printer. Basically I forgot to check my video feed one day because too much on my hands, of course print fucked up that day, I get home and find part of my temperature probe ripped off and a giant plastic blob. I cleaned most of the plastic, and wanted to get out old probe cable when I figured out I had to un scew one screw on the heat block.

Easy right?

Well, not really, I noticed at that point that the screw was ... screwed up / fucked up and key we just running kind of free in it, I even bought new keys with variation on the size but nohting was doing it. I try with a plier to turn it manually but since the form factor is just play stupid (I mean why chossing this since you can't grab it with anything, meaning if the screw is fucked up, you're fucked too ...) with no luck.

Only solution I see now is drilling through the screw to screw another one in it (from what I gathered online) but I have :

- no drill

- No idea what size I need for the drill

also the space between the screw and heatbed is uneasy at best...

What are you thought? What can I do to solve this situation please?

as a last resort you can always buy a new heat-block and possibly termistor and heater cartridge and replace it (depending on if you can get one or both of them out from the old heat-block without damaging them)

Hi, thanks for your time.

I though about that but the heat block is both blocked for turning by the pinda probe plastick block and some plastic shelle on the right from the print head.

This is why you can remove the hot end from the extruder.  If when you built the printer you didn't leave slack in the hot end cables, just loosen the cable ties all the way back into the wrap, and unwrap as far as you need to get slack for unhooking the heat sink from the extruder plastic.  It was pretty easy to do the last time I did it. Maybe 15-20 minutes to have it in pieces.

I didn't built the printer, it was a prebuilt ^^

The piece that won't do a full turn is the one situated above the screw on the screen, is that what we 're both talking about?

All cable are already un wrapped (I needed to get temp prob cable away already).

I'll give it a look tonight.

Go to this page to find the assembly guide for your printer - it should help show you what comes apart to remove the hot end.

https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/

Then use these guides to disassemble the hot end as needed.

https://e3d-online.com/upgrade-kits/hotend-upgrade-kits

https://e3d-online.com/standard-heater-cartridge

https://e3d-online.com/thermistor-cartridge

https://e3d-online.com/prusa-mk3-hotend-spares

I suggest that you get two spare thermistors, (one to use, and one for stock)
If your heater is Ok, I suggest that you get a spare for future use

I have linked to both the standard E3d Thermistor, and the Prusa specific one.

Good luck, Joan

is that the same?

For all I can say for now(since i can't heat up the printer...) only the heat probe got caught up and I already bought the spare. Except i can install it since some genious decided it would be a great idea to put a screw with round head you can't grip with plier if the head is fucked up.

Je ne  parle pas enfrancaise...  ( I think)

I looked at the link but translate let me down...

is the Thermistor a Semitec 100Kohm version?

I would recommend that you DO NOT use that hot end sock!

it is the 'PRO version'  and a number of people have had problems with that version...

the sock that leaves the whole nozzle exposed, is better

That's a good question, it clearly lack information on the page.

All it says is :

ASIN: B079FWVTX7

Piece Reference : V6-BLOCK-SOCK-KIT-CN

Brand : TCMUK3D

Unspcs code 23150000

You advise me to buy the "Prusa MK3 HotEnd Spares" instead then? what is the difference with the standard E3d Thermistor you linked too ?

Thanks for your help.

Ok so i'm starting to get mad about all of this, it's seriously making me hate the prusa and 3d printing. Been months and still here buying pieces i can't mount at way to high prices for what it is.

I bought he pieces listed above, Started unmounting the thing to change what was unusable execept now i'm stuck with that and can't get the heat block out :

Serisously what should I do? Also big up to the genious engineer that thought it would be a so good idea to put a rounded head screw on the heat block, meaning that if t he screw head get screwed and can't turn your in deep problems. Well done...

All I want is to be printing, but for that I need to be able to get this heatblock out. Any Idea please?

Ok so i finally successfully change all of this... thanks to my soldering iron to heat it  up. But now when i do the wizard setup, it fail on selft test X  without doing a thing.

Which is strange because it can home and extrude filament.
