Filament autoload not working

i3 Mk3 that I've had for about a year but its been idle for several months.  just updated the firmware as well.  went to swap out filaments and it unloaded without issue but the autoload feature would not work for the new filament.  if I just pushed down on the filament and started a print eventually the new filament began to extrude but I had to stop the print & start over since the first couple of layers still had the old filament color while the extruder used up the old filament.

what should I be looking at to address the filament autoload?  thx!

Check to make sure the screws are not too tight on the IR filament sensor.  Did you assemble it or Prusa?

RE: Filament autoload not working

I assembled it myself & it has been working perfectly.  shortly before it sat idle the last few months I tried using some flexible filament for a print & had all sorts of issues with it jamming - managed to get it sorted out but there was  a lot of pulling and yanking on the the filament and melting of the filament at high temp to get everything removed.  since then I've been having issues with autoload ...

I removed the top plastic cover to reveal the sensor board and if I loosen it's screw I can jiggle the board around and eventually hear a 'click' and the autoload works but when I tighten it back up, do and 'unload' and try to do an auto reload it doesn't work.  I'll try leaving it loose and see what happens
