Extrusion problem (due to extruder tention?) after reassembling the Prusa

Hi,

I'm running into problem for past several days. The X belt idler got loose so I disassemble X axis. When I assembled it together I run into problem - printer starts printing fine but after some time it stops extruding. There is some 'leakage' which accumulates around nozzle. If I unload filament it shows that it has been stripped.

Misc. information:

  • I use PTEG
  • This doesn't seems to be heat creep (the shaft, PTEF tube and plastic are cool)
  • I tried to tention it much less/more than what it used to be but results are the same
  • I use Nozzle X so I used cleaning filament to see if this is not a blockage of the nozzle. It seems to work fine
  • Next print starts fine if I just push the filament

I'm out of ideas what to try to fix the problem.

I forgot to add - it's not first layer problem. It happened in subsequent layers as well.

A cold pull might help in case you have a partial clog, maybe some burnt fragments in there...?

I did try this today despite it being not recommended for Nozzle X without success...

Please show us a picture of your nozzle assembly including the 'leakage' , also a picture of a failed print might help.

Unfortunately when I was screwing the nozzle after I reattempted to clean it I was unable to screw it back. I think I damaged threading either in heat block or the nozzle (probably heat block as it is aluminum and not hardened steel).

I'm waiting for replacement to arrive and hopefully the problem will be gone. Though any hints how to remove cartridge and thermsistor would be helpful (I removed the two screws but it seems to be still held - either leftover leaked PTEG as I haven't tightened it properly first time so it leaked or by friction).

Heat gun will help remove the stuck parts in the heat block. But you shouldn't have to touch that to change the nozzle...

As a rule of thumb, if parts are leaking then they will be glued together when cold, so, controlled heat is your go to tool.

The nozzle seems to be stuck (it rotates when heated to 285 C but doesn't change height) so I'm trying to swap for a new block. In best case the threading on the heat block is destroyed and everything else can be rescued. In worst case the nozzle is damaged. In either case cartridges can be removed.
