eSun PLA+ and PETG Profiles

HI,

Does anyone have profiles available for the eSun PETG and PLA+ filament?

If you do a search in these forums you will find a few posted (mainly for the eSun PETG), plus descriptions on settings to change. But in all honesty they shouldn't vary much from the standard profiles.

I can confirm. The standard profiel works.

Haven't tried it on a Prusa yet, but I've found the eSun PLA+ likes to be printed a good 20'c hotter than normal PLA. Anything less and you start to get a lot of stringing.

I print at the same temp as other PLA, but with modified retraction settings. There is always more than one way to skin a cat 😉

Re: eSun PLA+ and PETG Profiles

Tengo una I3MK3 +MMU2 y Con esun, tengo 2 problemas:

Edit: or maybe not, doesn't seem to be much discussion on the Spanish forum.

Re: eSun PLA+ and PETG Profiles

I cut and pasted the spanish into google translate.....here it is in English:

I have an I3MK3 + MMU2 and with esun, I have 2 problems:
1. In single mode, with a single material, the pieces or printed objects have many threads in their surface finish, especially the Voronoi pieces. I have tested with different retraction lengths 0.8mm, 1.0, 1.5, 2.3, 3.8mm and it does not improve. The best result was obtained with length = 0.8mm, retraction speed 50mm / sg and T ° of filament first layer 215 ° C and Other layers 205 ° C.

2. In multi-material mode, since I updated my I3MK3 to MMU2, I could not print a complete piece, all fail due to the absence of a layer. Apparently the filament that is removed from the extruder is at its tip with a very thin filament tail and this sometimes causes the sensor to take false readings or sometimes the filament gets stuck by the tail at the tip and does not pass through the nylon tube towards the extruder

if someone has a council I will gladly accept it: D

It'd be nice if the Slic3r PE guys added the known optimal profiles for eSun PLA+ and eSun PETG to Slic3r PE. It's quite a popular filament, especially in Asia/Australia/NZ. I've used it myself a few times, and it is really nice filament.

I use eSun extensively. Are you having problems? Otherwise just create your own profiles?

If you use e-sun regularly, I came across this, nothing to do with the thread, but may be of interest to yourselves:

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

I know lots of people tend to print PLA at 190-ish, so 20c hotter would be ~210, that's the standard PLA temp profile in slic3r... or are you saying that they would print eSun PLA+ at 230+? That's in the range of PETG and ABS printing, isn't it?

Re: eSun PLA+ and PETG Profiles

For eSun I print pla+ at 210 and petg at 230/5. But remember you may have to adjust retraction settings to stop stringing with petg.

RE: eSun PLA+ and PETG Profiles

@rob-l6

Answers like this are not helpful. First, you say that other posts can be found if you look, without giving specifics, which is no help. I have done quite a bit of searching, here and elsewhere, and I still don't have any good answers.

Then you say the settings "shouldn't" change much from standard, suggesting that you don't have any personal experience.  That's not helpful either.

I personally would prefer to hear specifics from someone with experience, instead of conjecture from someone with no experience.

In my experience, eSun PLA+ makes a hot glob on the nozzle every time with the generic PLA settings. If I print with my custom "quiet" settings, which is the generic PLA settings with the speed turned down so no movement is faster than 30mm/s, then it does print. Why that makes a difference, I don't have enough experience to say.

RE: eSun PLA+ and PETG Profiles

I know this is an old thread but I found it trying to find some answers and saw that it didn't have much as far as specifics so thought I would add my two cents for the next person who comes along.  So besides Prusament PLA, I have only ever used eSun PLA+ since getting my MK3S a year ago and it works well enough for me.  I don't print a ton but I have about 1000 hours on my printer now and have used 10+ rolls of eSun at this point in many colors.  Some colors work better than others for me but nothing that I have found to be unacceptable.

Anyway, I just use the Prusament PLA default filament profile for it so it prints at 215.  Seems fine, the box of eSun says Print temp is 205-225 so 215 is right in the middle of that range.  It does string more than the Prusament but nothing I can't just quickly rub/pull away with my fingers after it cools.  If I lived in Europe I would probably just use Prusament but here in the states the $10 per roll shipping charge is too big a hurdle with other brands working almost as well and free shipping here.

I have sample photos using eSun PLA+ with  prusament profile, its ok but a little bit stringy.

PrusaSlicer actually have eSun PLA preset already and it works great with eSun PLA+ filaments.  What it doesn't have is for PETG. My eSun PETG prints using Prusa/Generic PETG preset are OK but not great.

RE: eSun PLA+ and PETG Profiles

Hello,

I´m doing the Landy 4x4 Hardtop of 3dsets mainly with eSun PLA+.

Settings provided with Prusa Slicer, eSun PLA. No change at all.

Works fine without stringing, but problems with warping.

Solution was Magigoo for PLA etc. Works juste fine.

I´m on a MK3S+ with an ESD Nozzle X.

Cheers, herb
