Don't buy this not compatible Prusa spare part:

hello community,

don't buy this spare part (heatsink for original Prusa i3 MK3) from most chinese suppliers (Aliexpress):

the diameter dimensions are not correct and you will have trouble by printing because of the small outside diameter of 21.95 mm instead of 22.3 mm.

Good sellers are E3D or original Prusa! There you do not have to buy twice.

wbr, Karl

Don't take this personally, but I'll never understand why someone would pay the Premium for a quality Prusa printer, then cheap out on essential bits like the nozzle and hotend. Stick with quality parts and you can expect quality resluts! The only printer parts I'll use off AliExpress on my Prusa is a TriangleLabs nozzle in an odd size.

Thanks for pointing that out. CNC Kitchen did a test with cheap nozzles and was able to show big differences to the original ones.

As usual "Don't buy this *knock off* part super cheap" applies to many products. There is a reason behind higher price and most of the time it's not brand name or license costs.

I will say I buy from E3D in preference to Prusa due to price and shipping costs/time. (and no weird reduction in heat break)

UK gets it to me in a couple of days.

Very much hoping Prusa stocks more on Amazon...

Reminds me of guys taking a quiet high performance motorcycle with multi-tuned exhaust with electronic controlled baffles and putting glas-packs on to make is sound faster.

Such wonders will never cease to amaze me.

Thanks for the constructive contributions, but I'm not ready to pay 15 euros and more for shipping costs for every little spare part.

is this original Prusa quality for Euro 58,40:

or this for Euro 8:

Electronics are one thing -- and indeed possibly the same thing -- but the components that directly affect print quality and overall reliability are not a good place to economize. Anything involving the filament feed, hotend performance for final filament extrusion is going to have a direct impact on print quality. I spend a lot of time on the various Reddit 3D printing groups and it seems every week somebody "discovers" that buying cheap crap parts causes problems. Next thing you know they're trying to fit an E3D hotend and Olssen Ruby nozzle onto that $200 printer. TriangleLabs at least does a good job creating clone parts but those unknown parts always tend to give unknown results. I'd rather spend another $15-20 on a nozzle than risk one or more spools of $15-40 filament and waste hours of my time.

RE: Don't buy this not compatible Prusa spare part:

I tried an Olsson Ruby (Euro 120 inc. 25 for shipping from sweden) with my original Prusa MK3S extruder and i tried nozzles from DFORCE (0.4mm) but could not see any differences on print quality (ABS, PC, GreenTEC Carbon...). I tested hardened from different manufacturers, also Prusa, but could not see any difference. So i decided to work with DFORCE nozzles for Euro 3-4 for one piece with all filament materials.

In this project I have printed some parts with the Olsson Ruby and other parts with a DFORCE, all 0.4mm.

Now my Ruby rests in a nice packaging an is waiting for special use.

If I still had access to the amazingly equipped toolroom/machine shop that I spent 32 years of my employment (45 total) I would make all these replacement parts myself. No Prob. But I will agree with the OP that this part mentioned is garbage. Tolerances are important. So with no machine tools at my disposal, I have my MK3 upgrade. I'm still designing/ making mechanical parts. And toys. Thanks Prusa.

Those look to be of reasonable quality, akin to the TriangleLabs nozzles I mentioned in my previous post. At least they follow the E3D measurements. I see a lot of posts from people using the $2 knock-off nozzles which vary only in the size of the diameter (simply drilled) and with poor interior finish. These can cause problems as you experiment with extrusion widths. Users of the low-cost printers often find that the crappy no-name PTFE tubing used for the Bowden tube is a major source of problems, or have the plastic extruder clamp wear away.

There's nothing wrong with being frugal, so long as you realize that the brands ripping off the companies that actually innovate, research and support our community are only in it for themselves. When yet-another quality printer or part manufacturer disappears, just be happy with the level of support you get from the AliExpress sellers. And of course, don't be surprised when the essential part costing a few bucks turns out to be crap.

I hope you understand that AliExpress price is more or less blank factory price. Even shipping is sometimes covered by the current regulations. There are additional costs if you’re offering same item as European company. If exactly this part need to cost 5x more is a different story, but you need to understand why PR is doing that.

I’m curious why you’re ready to pay EUR150 for a nozzle but at the same time not ready to source original spare parts. Shipping costs can be minimized by purchasing more stuff together.

"Shipping costs can be minimized by purchasing more stuff together" if you are working on only one project with several broken parts and a manufacturer offers everything it's ok. I order components and spare parts weekly for different projects, this year shipping costs over 500 Euro. On the most orders the shipping costs are higher as the part price itself. I try to find other solutions. Mostly I have good experiences, sometimes bad ones.

When I priced one Delrin trapezoidal nut from Prusa, they wanted $8 for a pair and $12 shipping.

Got the same part from China for $2, shipping included. You just have to be careful...

I would rethink my supply strategy. For Germany 500 Euro shipping costs per year  is a lot.

Yes i should.

Average shipping costs from Germany are about 15 euros and more, from Skandinavia 20 Euros and more for an insured package. Switzerland even more expensive. For example:

The small parts often cause high costs, such as screws, pins, washers, plugs, sockets, crimp contacts aso...

I have found some items worth buying on Aliexpress, but most are garbage.  Mellow Nozzles and Trianglelabs are ok.  I also like Dforce.

Another plug for Amazon.

Genuine E3D nozzles (sold by E3D) are on Amazon for $7.99, two day delivery, free shipping (prime).

I would not turn to duct tape.  I just placed an order with delivery to the US.  Replacement fans x4, a spool of filament, metal bed, the print guide, and some feet.  $12 shipping.
