"Complete Noob Guide to Firmware??"

I've searched around but I'm still lost.   I am interested in applying the custom firmware that lets me set the live-Z offset for all 8 perimeter points on the plate (cardinal directions and corners).  I print a lot of full-plate prints, and with some colors especially black, the differences in the live-Z, while still producing a good print, are noticeable.   I have tweaked the bed level correction, but due to the way it works (tilts the entire plane and only adjusts 4 points) it will never be perfect.

Is there a good resource here to read through as a primer for editing and applying custom firmware?

Thanks!

@twoballscrewball

I use *Nyloc Bed Leveling" and it works for me. Search for it on YouTube, there are many videos about it.

There is also a website where you paste your G81 number from Pronterface to make it easier to adjust the bed https://pcboy.github.io/g81_relative/

Nyloc mod has some variants, some use springs or silicon tube with the Nyloc mod.

There is a thread here about Nyloc mod https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-user-mods-octoprint-enclosures-nozzles-.../prusa-mk3-nylock-mod/

Hope you get something useful out of this

the absolute bottom line is, you have to decide what works for you, you literally have a world of choices and what you think is working for you, and can make work for you, thats the best choice for you.

try what you think is right, its actually difficult to brick these printers, and after you try these new things decide for yourself whats right for you, there's to many choices for someone else to tell you.

Have Fun

OK So I am going to give the nylock leveling a shot.   Seems very straightforward.  Ordered up some 3mm lock nuts from Amazon.   Hopefully that helps.
