Can I turn off "Gap Filling" in the PRUSA Slicer

Is there any way to turn off Gap Filling in the PRUSA Slicer?

I have some very thin objects. I've set the thickness of the walls of these objects so that they SHOULD just print two lines of extrusion. But in some spots it ends up with a slight gap between the two lines and the Slicer automatically puts a "gap infill" to handle it. That might seem OK, but it ends up causing a slight bump on the surface of the object.

you have to set the gap fill speed to zero.  Print Settings > speed iirc.  Need to br in advanced or expert mode to see the setting.

You might want to test the thickness. I’m just guessing but it is possible the extrusion multiplier might need some minor adjustment

@john-h68

What would I be measuring? Also, I have no idea what the "extrusion multiplier" is. Is it something that I have control over in the Slicer?

By looking at the individual slices that the slicer creates it does appear to me that the "gaps" that it's attempting to fill are narrower than the normal extrusion lines that it's laying down. So maybe it's filling the gap with too much material and thereby pushing the adjacent extrusion lines out a bit. There are indeed bumps on both sides of the very thin part that it's creating wherever (in the slicer) it shows a gap fill line.

Attached is a simple part that exhibits the symptoms I'm seeing, in case anyone else wants to take a closer look.

Measure the thickness of the wall. Ideally it should be the same as noted in the perimeters section. ie Print setting>>layers and perimeter>> Vertical Shells.

Extrusion Multiplier is found in Filament setting (advanced) and it will increase the thickness of your filament as it is laid down. Increase it by the percent difference between what you measure and what you would expect.

I dont know why you are getting bumps

Hi guys! I faced same question and decided to make a PR into PrusaSlicer repo adding separate checkbox for gap filling here: https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/pull/5999
