BED PREHEAT ERROR

Hello everyone,

my name is Kevin, I´m new in the 3D printing world and I'm very excited by all the possibilities that a 3D Printer could give.

I got my mk3s like three months ago, I didn´t print that much, like 15h total. And yesterday when I was preheating the bed, while preparing the files on the Prusa Slicer, I saw that the temperature of the bed wasn´t raising at all, (staying in room temperature, no problems heating the nozzle tho), and when I tried to preheat again the BED PREHEAT ERROR appeared in the display.

I´ve questioned some of my friends and in other forums and the answers for the possible problem are like:

- "If the wires are all tight, there are 3 fuses on the Einsy board. Not entirely sure what they control but should be easy enough to extract and test. There are 2 x 5 amp and 1 x 15 amp."

- »This is either the board connection(Could be the port connector solder) or a wire issue. Trace it back and look. One of mine had a wire that had to be replaced. »

- "Is the red led at the terminal on? think one of the wires is broken"

- "Just had this happen... it was unfortunately a new board for me!"

- "This is either the board connection(Could be the port connector solder) or a wire issue. Trace it back and look. One of mine had a wire that had to be replaced."

- "Before you start replacing things, or taking anything apart - run your PID calibration (maybe more than once) and see if that solves your problem. "

- "Mine had the same, it was the wire broken somewhere inside the insulation. All still well at the ends, and I had to change the whole wire from the board to the bed. Easy enough, though."

Before doing anything I prefer to ask here because it´s the official forum.

Thanks in advance! 👍

Best Answer by Kevin Gonçalves:

I've got it, was a simples fix.

The nuts that are utilised to bolt the alimentation cables of the heatbed were loose, in certain angles the contacts of the cable might not be in contact, so at the end the maxine puts itself in hold and give that error. 5min fix.

thanks @karl-herbert anyway for the help.

Hello and welcome here in the Prusaforum!

Cable breaks are not uncommon and usually you cannot see anything with the naked eye. I would simply replace the thermistor and test it. I would always keep thermistors on reserve, because they are wear parts.

Thanks for your quick answer Karl.

To be honest, I'm a little surprise that the thermistor could brake in only 15h, but thanks for the advice and i will keep some in spares. 😉

See ya and good prints! 👍
