Bed leveling speed on latest MK3S+ way faster than olders MK3S+ why?
Hi All.
This is a link to a YouTube video of three prusa mk3s+ mesh bed leveling. My newest one is way way faster to level the bed. A 7x7 grid is as fast as a 3x3 on the older machines. Same firmware on all.
So far based on Facebook responses this is not unique. The older two are from the S+ launch and a few months after. The latest was bought in November of 2021.
Any ideas why on supposedly identical machinery this is the case. There must be a difference. I have tried all the settings to try and speed up the others. I would use the 7 x 7 as default if it's that fast on all.
A thread mentioned the S Pinda being the cause? But why. I just want to know why. I'm not ripping apart otherwise functional machines but eventually when I rebuild one if I know the cause it will be worth sorting then.

How often are they sampling each point? Looks like the outlier is only sampling once.

It is doing three checks. It's just very fast. It's set to three in the settings. I have triple checked. Reflashed the firmware. Same result. It's definitely probing three times really fast.

I have found time to rebuild one of the slower machines. Greased all the bearings and run through the wizard to setup the printer. The speed of bed leveling is still slower than with the newer MK3S+. Not sure what I can do further to investigate or do. From the comments on the Facebook forums it would seem that I am not unique. It would appear to be related to the Super Pinda. One person bought 5 to upgrade his machines and now has three that level fast and two slow. Could there be some kind of manufacturing variation here. Could the slower PINDAs if it is this at cause be from a different supply chain?

Mine is fast like your newest one. I purchased mine preassembled on 5/3/2021. No idea what would cause the difference, but figured I'd give you another data point.
