Bad noise from Y carriage

Hi,

I have extremely bad vibrations from the bearings/rods (most probably right side) on the Y carriage:

If I'm quick and press the Y rods apart when they are visible the noise disappears.

Should I try to realign the Y rods somehow?
Are the rods uneven?
Are the bearings not aligned correctly?

Any other solution?

I think your nozzle is running over the infill, that's all. Do you have this noise also when not printing / moving the bed with your hand?

Have you tried to do another XYZ cal?

You mean that the nozzle is touching the infill? I have not tried any different ZXY calibration. The noise is not there if i move it by hand, but the noise is only there on some directions of printing, and only if the print has a large surface.

100% nozzle hitting the infill. can happen with grid infill, but I forget the reason why

Thanks! good to know the source of the problem! Do you (or anyone) have a tip how to fix this, before I mess up everything myself 🙂 Should I just run the calibration again?

Re: Bad noise from Y carriage

is the print stuck well to the bed and not peeling away? If it is lifting up from warping then make sure to always clean with IPA before printing with PLA or Windex before printing with PETG or - consult the manual.

on the other hand maybe this is caused by the slicer or the settings of it. I think the print head is supposed to raise up when it is travelling (not printing) but this is a settable function. What slicer are you using?

Re: Bad noise from Y carriage

Been busy lately so have not not had the time to either print or correct this issue yet. Anyway, the PLA sticks to the bed, no problems there. I always clean the bed with acetone before printing. I am using Slicer PE with standard settings. I will check if the head rises while traveling, but I'm quite sure it does. I will do a calibration too befor next print.

Thanks for the help guys!

You should not clean the bed with acetone every time. It destroys the PEI slowly. Once a week is more than enough. IPA is the daily cleaner.
