Auto Home not returning correctly

I have just assembled my new i3 MK3S printer and after multiple callibrations I still have a problem with the printer not returning home correctly. When printing or even when I just use the Auto Home function the printer resets its X and Z, but not its Y axis. It is a problem when during printing the printer needs to heat up, so it goes to its home and then tries to go back, but because it did not reset its Y axis it now tries to go off the Print area and starts printing on the edge. Apart from this problem the printer works perfectly fine. The Y motor and belt are tight enough and work great. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

RE: Auto Home not returning correctly

I don't understand why you would try to auto home in the middle of a print.

When starting a print, the gcode file has a command to home the printer; that is the only time you really want to home the printer.  Homing the printer with a part on the bed is asking for a hard crash.

Worth noting, with all my limited time printing on a MK3, I can honestly say I have never used the Auto Home command from the LCD.

Hello, from what I understand, when the printer stops mid-print, goes home and displays "Heating", it is not because the printer needs heating (it can do that wherever) but rather because it has detected a crash and it is reasserting its position relative to home to correct any deviations.

It seems that there might be something interfering with the Y axis movement, the belt might be too tight or some of the bearings have become dirty or are misaligned, or there there is a cable with not enough slack, or the bed is crashing with something when it moves.?   If you check in Support->Belt satus, what values do you see?  should be between 250 and 300, below 250 is the belt is too tight, above 300 too loose.

The Y bearing U bolts, could also be too tight.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I did not really know what was my problem and you helped me a lot. The problem was that my Y belt was too tight, which caused the printer to crash and then go "Heating".

Another common crash is during horizontal infill and the vertical infill doesn't adequately support it (fill percentage too low and distances between verticals is too far). The ends of the horizontal infill are free to curl; sometimes downward, sometime upward. When the curl is large, it can catch the nozzle and create shifts (stealth mode with crash detection disabled) and crashes that halt printing.

I experienced this printing my last model using 10% Gyroid infill and had to hand hold the second attempt to get it to succeed.
