Are the Z-motors indipendent of eachother?

The question is if the two Z-motors can be driven by one stepper (i assume they have their own driver on the einsy-board?)

Just curius for the possibility of current buddy-board integration for going 8 to 32bit.

Yes

Yes. I've seen a couple of main boards the have an optional daughter board that turns a stepper motor connecter into two stepper motor connectors. For instance, I have a Sovol SV01 which uses a Creality 2.2 board. Although there are two Z connectors they are feed from the same stepper module.

In theory

So then it would, in theory, be possible to use the same buddy-board that the mini uses with a Y-splitter for both z-motors.

As i've seen much discussion on the shortage on firmware-memory on the current einsy, that could mean we might get an easy 32bit upgrade with all the prusa-fw bells n whistles for the mk3(.5)s++ in the future.

Keep the current excellent mk3 hardware, new board.

Maybe in theory

The FETs used in the controller are going to be the limiting factor - can they handle double the current?  Perhaps they can and all would be well, on the other hand, it is never good to let the magic smoke out of electronic parts...(-;
